I say this because many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as
coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the
deceiver and the antichrist. 8 Watch out that you do not lose what we have
worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully. 9 Anyone who runs ahead and
does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever
continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone comes
to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take them into your house or
welcome them. 11 Anyone who welcomes them shares in their wicked work.12 I have
much to write to you, but I do not want to use paper and ink. Instead, I hope
to visit you and talk with you face to face, so that our joy may be complete.13
The children of your sister, who is chosen by God, send their greetings.
As
I begin this devotion, I want to ask a question DO YOU KNOW THE TRUTH?
I
am sure you all know that Bible is the true word of God and our foundation is
built upon this truth. In this passage John has given us a warning about the
deceivers who will try to destroy the truth that has been laid in our life.
when we don’t know the true word that is where deception happens in our life.
In Psalm 119:105 it says Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.
The
bible says God’s word is a lamp to our feet. When we meditate the word it what
it actually does is it lightens the path. But imagine when our path is
surrounded by darkness, we won’t be sure about our path. It is very simple when
we don’t know the truth we will be easily diverted from God’s word.
So, what do we need to do? I would like to suggest 3 things here in this devotion.
1. Watch out (v.8)
Watch out for the deceivers and as you watch
out john tells us to be very careful to not to lose the word that has been
taught to us.
2. Continue to learn the Word of God
The second thought will be; continue to learn the word something thinks like refilling the oil to light the lamp. If don’t know the truth we won’t be able to recognize the wrong teachings (v.9) when we don’t recognize it, we will be kept on listening and feeding us with wrong teaching.
3. Acknowledge the Deceiver
It is the God’s word that help us acknowledge
the deceiver.
So,
continue to protect God’s word that has been laid upon your life as a
Foundation.
God
Bless You All.
